Wildfire snorted quietly. "Good, because I do want you as my lead." he said kindly. Every stallion needed a lead mare and why not Silver, Wildfire thought.

Silver moved and nuzzled his neck gently. She let her forehead rest against his neck. "You've just made me even happier. My mother had told me the day before I left that I was born to take her place as lead mare one day. But, I'm not with her. I'm your lead mare now," she said. Stormy moved again and woke up to look at them but then fell back to sleep.

Wildfire snorted, he was very happy now. He looked at the clouds, they were still grey but the lightening was fading and the thunder becoming only an echo. But Wildfire wasn't going to move. It was getting dark now and the cove was a safe place to sleep for a small herd like his.

Silver soon fell asleep and her head moved to rest lightly against his shoulder. Stormy moved and got closer to them both in his sleep.

Wildfire, after watching them sleep laid his head down and soon fell asleep too. The lightening had stopped now and the thunder was a distant rumble.

Silver snorted and moved to put her head on his back. Her colt had moved out from between them and was on her other side.

The night dawn came quickly but the clouds where still darkening the sky. Wildfire woke and lifted his head. He looked out at the desert. The grass was a bit greener but not much. He then looked over at Silver and Stormy.

Silver was awake and was cleaning Stormy of dirt. The colt flicked his small tail and looked at Wildfire. "Morning, Dad," he said. Silver was shocked and looked from her colt to Wildfire.

Wildfire snorted then nuzzled Stormy gently, "good morning." he said in a kind voice. He looked up at Silver, he could tell she was shocked. But he didn't say anything he just nuzzled her neck.

Stormy snorted softly and stood up and moved to stretch his legs without leaving the cove. Silver wasn't looking so good or feeling so good. She let Wildfire nuzzle her but moved to lay on her side.

Wildfire was worried about Silver again. He stood up and lowered his head to her. "I can go find you some willow branched now." he said. He knew where to find them.

"No, I'm okay. I'm just waking up. This is how I always wake up. I'll find some once we leave the cove so I don't feel worse later," she said. Stormy wandered over and nipped at Wildfire wanting to play for a bit.

Wildfire snorted softly, he was still worrying about her. When Stormy nipped him he lowered his head and pushed him playful.

Stormy nipped him again before running out of the cove. He wanted to play tag. Silver got up and to prove to him that she was fine she walked out of the cove to go find some willow branches.

Wildfire turned to watch Silver stand, he waited until Silver was out of the cove too before he trotted after Stormy.
